The Covid-19 healthcare crisis hit the Recruitment Industry hard. I would estimate, close to 30% of recruitment agency employees have lost their jobs since March 2020. Many of those who remained have had to endure months of tough times. It is no wonder that the market is so busy right now – people are naturally ready for a change and a fresh start in 2021!
Things are busy in rec-to-rec at the moment. Yet, I see a lot of consultants leaving the agency space into either Talent Acquisition, People & Culture, HR, Government, or even Customer Success roles.
There are many good reasons you should stick to your guns and stay in Agency Recruitment instead of, in some cases, taking the easy path. Because nothing that is easy is ever worthwhile, some wise old people would tell you!
“Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty… I have never in my life envied a human being who led an easy life. I have envied a great many people who led difficult lives and led them well.”
– Theodore Roosevelt
Agency Recruitment Is LUCRATIVE
The rule of 1/3: bill $600k p.a. in revenue/GP, take-home personal income of $200k p.a., in total. Unless you’re a Doctor, Lawyer, or technical specialist, or a senior manager with many years of experience, it can generally be pretty hard to get to that OTE in other industries.
You Are Always LEARNING
You’re learning from your managers, colleagues, clients, and candidates. There is an opportunity every day, every hour to get better and turn yourself into an expert in your field.

Understanding how people make decisions and DEVELOP STRONG EQ

Working With LIKEMINDED PEOPLE
Good recruiters and salespeople can come from many walks of life and personality types, but for the most part are visual thinkers, sharp dressers, hard workers, love a good chat, and are highly social beasts by nature.
